Door de Corona maatregelen was het een lange periode niet bekend of we op vakantie naar het buitenland of zelfs in eigen land konden gaan. Gelukkig kon ons weekendje weg naar het Boerenbed doorgaan!

Vakantie in eigen land
Voor de maand juni hadden we een lang weekend weg naar het BoerenBed Hoeve Zeeland Collection geboekt staan. We keken hier enorm naar uit want het was bijna zeker dat ondanks alle maatregelen dit door kan gaan (uiteraard met enkele aanpassingen, dat wel!). Achteraf hebben we hier niets van gemerkt, want op zo’n lokatie ben je zelfvoorzienend, heb je weinig contact met anderen en geniet je van de rustgevende natuur en privacy rondom de boerderij.

Voor ons is dit al het derde weekendje weg via BoerenBed, maar omdat elk boerderij en lokatie zo van elkaar verschillen, ontdekken we steeds opnieuw de voordelen van dit luxe kamperen. Afgelopen jaren zijn we naar het BoerenBed Drenthe De Lange Weide gegaan en naar de unieke kinderboerderij de Pierlapont in België. Dit keer is net even wat anders, de Zeeland Hoeve BoerenBed Collection: een melkvee boerderij vlakbij Veere, een perfecte uitvalsbasis voor kleine uitstapjes in het prachtige natuurrijke Zeeland. 

Wat is het verschil tussen BoerenBed en BoerenBed Collection?
Dit is iets anders dan de reguliere boerderijen die je gewend bent bij Het BoerenBed. Op een BoerenBed Collection-locatie vinden er geen reguliere activiteiten plaats zoals bijvoorbeeld de Pizza Avond, het boerderijwinkeltje en de boerderij toer.

Zeeland Hoeve BoerenBed Collection
Toen we eenmaal aankwamen werden we hartelijk verwelkomd door de gastvrouw die ons de boerderij liet zien met een kleine rondleiding. Er waren koetjes, pasgeboren kalfjes, schapen en heel veel loslopende kippen. Prachtig Zeelands uitzicht met uitgestrekte velden waren vanuit de speeltuin met trampoline te ervaren. De tenten stonden heel beschut op het privéterrein. Op de boerderij was ook een winkeltje waar je streekproducten en ijsjes kon kopen. Genoeg skelters en fietsjes om op te spelen en de meiden konden zich uitleven in de hooizolder. Kortom er was van alles te doen voor de kinderen!

Het luxe kamperen
Met de ‘spelregels’ van het BoerenBed waren we al bekend. Al is het best wel luxe: lekkere zachte bedden en beddengoed; een ruime tent die van alles voorzienend is; een eigen WC in de tent…, maar het vuur maken moet je hoe dan ook zelf doen! En dat is het mooie ervan: de luxe en de natuur bij elkaar. Omdat er geen elektriciteit is (maar ook geen warm water) moet je wanneer het begint te schemeren licht maken met kaarsen en olielampen. Hoe gezellig is dat! De meiden sliepen zoals altijd knus bij elkaar in de ruime bedstee en we genoten nog tot de late uurtjes van het kampvuur naast de tent. Op het terrein staat een douchegebouw met voldoende cabines voor alle tenten en stopcontacten zodat je de telefoon kan opladen. De hele dag speelden Belle en Lotus lekker buiten op het terrein en kwamen enkel terug om te eten en te slapen! 

Wandelen of paardrijden door de Veerse bos
Een ander deel van de boerderij, Manege Meiwerf, ligt op 1 km afstand en daar kan je voor een klein prijsje pony’s of paardjes berijden door het bos. Belle en Lotus zijn gek op paarden daarom hebben we maar liefst twee keer zo’n pony-ritje door het Veerse bos gemaakt! Hierbij kregen de meisjes elk kleine schattige paardjes mee en konden we voor een uurtje zelf op pad.
Op zondag zijn we in een andere stukje van het bos een fijne wandeling gaan maken met ons hondje. Wat een prachtige natuur is het met veel groen en water!

Omgeving van Veere
Voor een paar uurtjes zijn we naar Veere geweest. Al waren we hier in de wintermaanden al eens geweest, we wilden er zeker nog een keertje terugkomen. Dit keer hebben we door het historische stadscentrum gewandeld, lekker geluncht in het restaurant en hebben we het afgesloten met een bezoekje aan Oma’s snoepwinkeltje. Ook kan je een daar een mooie rondvaart maken. De Veerse omgeving staat ook zeer bekend om zijn prachtige stranden: Het Breezand is een ruim strand met veel tentjes en speeltuintjes voor de kinderen.
De Jonge Johannes Molen kan ook niet ontbreken: een waar paradijs voor kinderen met een enorme speeltuin, springkussens en kleine boerderijdieren. En dat allemaal gratis. In het pannenkoekenhuis kan je heerlijk lunchen en dineren.
